Food Revolution Day is tomorrow!

When I talk about sustainable food I actually like DOING rather than just POSTING things on facebook and twitter, but I guess it is important to spread the word with the people who care. Especially because FRD is a day of ACTION. Our food industry is a big mess (not even necessary to go into details)… but we must know/remember that it keeps compromising our health, out economy, our culture, and the environment. Food should be a synonym of joy, tradition, community, culture. Yet we have drifted away from that into a mass-consumption pattern that overlooks all of those values. I can’t stress enough how important it is to know where you food comes from, to make sure that it is sustainably grown and distributed and to go back to basics and do it yourself. I could write a whole speech on the importance of our health and on how eating-related diseases are the main cause of death in North America… But I’d rather just share this event with you so you actually TAKE ACTION and not just like a post on social media.

Get together with people, make delicious and healthy food from sustainable sources, share it, start planning how to grow your own food, how to connect with the local farmers, try to buy fresh and organic produce. Believe me, you can taste the difference. I know you all have very busy lives, but doing it for a day might enlighten some of you to change your behaviour and even better, eat better food. This is not a Whole Foods ad. It is my attempt to encourage you to be selfless and care about the environment and your own health.

You guys can join the Google+ Hangout tomorrow and hear it from the man…

I feel like playing the ukulele and handing out fresh fruit to people. Sunshine is seriously underestimated…
